Thank you Angela Jimenez for a incredible slice of one of the most amazing acts of cooperation, consideration and practice of lesbian feminism politics in action!
The festival is an experience that no other has yet to come close to in scale, entertainment and politics!
This book captures one of the key elements that make the festival happen every year, the workers who come from all over the globe and put together an amazing village!
It is the only place on the planet where the gender known as woman
is celebrated and honored in it's fullness and controversy with out corporate sponsorship because it's not just a fad or fashion it's about changing the world in theory and practice of feminism!
Big love to the workers and Angela Jimenez for this great book and LV for continuing to hold the space!!

We dare you to become warriors of love, because the revolution is in the love, truth and strength we share and create. It will not be televised, come in a publication that arrives hidden in an envelope, be found in the ivory towers of academia, nor come from the folks who view us as a demographic to exploit and profit from, or by women co-opting misogynist male privilege and power, or by any one who thinks they have a monopoly on cool, and certainly not from those who sell out to be in.
But for one week a year, 600 acres is transformed into a place where love, discourse and revolution are in full swing. The cauldron is boiling over! Theories on gender, sex, race, and class are being taught, challenged and shaped on the personal to global level. For some, just one hell of a party is being staged. Identity politics are all the rage, from femme parades to the butch strut, butch privilege workshops, to buying cloths with labels to strut around in at the dance after night stage.
The Goddess and Great spirit are alive and well from opening ceremony at night stage âtill closing ceremony at the acoustic stage, remiding us that all acts of love and pleasure, caring for the earth and each other are their worship. You name it; itâs happening, from recovery at oasis to total indulgence at the twilightzone. Whatever youâre looking for itâs here, and if itâs not, you can create your own class or group from chicken chat workshops to transgender support groups. Michfest is the place every August you can find the revolution in high gear, and that is why we love, love, love the Michigan Womynâs Music Festival. Big, big love to Lisa Vogel, the workers, performers and festie-goers and to all who dare to be powerful, love and hold the space for revolutionary change!
