Average US taxpayers subsidized excessive executive compensation by more then $20 billion last year via a variety of tax and accounting loopholes. The $20 billion for Americaâs CEOâs is more than double what the federal government spent last year on educating Americaâs most vulnerable - children with disabilities.

Rather than propose ways to shrink these companies and the risks they pose, the Geithner plan argues instead for enhanced regulatory oversight of the behemoths. This suggests the taxpayer safety net will be larger after our national financial train wreck, not smaller.
More than two years after the crisis began, âtoo big to failâ remains âtoo problematic to addressâ with anything other than more souped-up regulation. Given that earlier efforts at policing these entities failed so miserably, why should anyone think that a new-and-improved regulatory approach will fare better? More

1-1-2008Mr President Obama, Please Reconsider your choice of Pastor Rick Warren to do the invocation at the inauguration. The intolerance he preaches is not just a " disagreement on certain social issues"(obama 12-18 2008)or simply an inconvenience or insult to the LGBTQ communities,
but a REAL and DAILY contributor to the violence and hate directed at the LGBTQ community and anyone suspected of being a LGBTQ person.Rick Warren's intolerance should not be acceptable as it promotes intolerance and
hate which leads to violence and death to innocent Americans that you also agreed to serve as president. Please MR President Obama consider those who are victims of LGBTQ intolerance, hate, and violance! In respect and HOPE!

Thank you President Obama! Will this change the intolerance, hostility, or violence projected at LGBTQ Community? (NOPE!No full embrace for the lgbtq community!)Being included (Ok, so I believed it for a minute!) at least keeps the door wide open to work towards changing public attitudes and government policies of discrimination, exclusion and intolerance.( Only time will tell)As a new day is dawning in American politics, upholding the civil rights of all people in the United States of America is important for addressing global injustice by example! So much for Hope!!!www.butchculture.com

Transgender Woman Shot and Left in Critical Condition
December 29, 2008
Leeneshia Edwards, a transgender woman, is in critical condition at the Regional Medical Center of Memphis after being shot multiple times and is undergoing multiple surgeries from sustained injuries to her jaw, side and back. Police report that the shooting occurred near Fuller State Park on the early morning of December 23. Family and friends believe the shooting is a hate crime. Edwards has now become the third transgender victim of violence in the city. Less than a month ago, transgender woman Duanna Johnson was brutally murdered. No solid leads for Johnsonâs murder have been identified by detectives. Earlier this year on July 1, the body of Ebony Whitacker was found in an abandoned apartment building. The Tennessee Transgender Political Coalition reacted today by calling on political leaders of all parties to support fully inclusive employment non-discrimination and hate crimes legislation.

Anti-gay, anti-Hispanic slurs used in attack on brothers
Published Thursday, 18-Dec-2008 in issue 1095
NEW YORK (AP) â Authorities opened a homicide investigation into a vicious attack on an Ecuadorian immigrant whose assailants shouted anti-gay and anti-Hispanic slurs, then beat him with a baseball bat and kicked him.Jose Sucuzhanay, 31, was attacked as he walked arm in arm with his 38-year-old brother on Dec. 7 in Brooklyn.
He had been listed in critical condition after undergoing brain surgery at Elmhurst Hospital in neighboring Queens.
A law enforcement official told The Associated Press that Sucuzhanay had been declared brain dead and was taken off life support Dec. 9. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because the investigation is ongoing.
Relatives, though, held a news conference to say that Sucuzhanay was clinging to life and that the family had an important decision to make.
The three assailants were still being sought.
While it does not appear the men were targeted specifically for being Ecuadorian, members of the Latin American community said they feel vulnerable and must be vigilant about safety.
Police in New York said that the two brothers first attended a church party, then stopped at a bar. They may have been tipsy as they leaned on each other for support walking home.
Jose wore a tank top, Romel a T-shirt with a jacket tied over his shoulders. Arm in arm, they paused at a street corner where a sport utility vehicle was at a stoplight, police said.
Witnesses nearby said they heard the men in the car shouting anti-gay and anti-Hispanic slurs at the brothers. One attacker jumped out of the SUV and smashed a beer bottle over Jose Sucuzhanayâs head.
As Romel Sucuzhanay ran away, two other men exited the vehicle and joined the assault, police said. One hit Jose Sucuzhanay in the head with an aluminum baseball bat while the others kicked him, police said.
At some point, the brother returned holding a cell phone and announced he had called police. The attackers drove off, and Romel Sucuzhanay escaped uninjured.
Police, who revised their account of the crime after initially saying there were four attackers, said robbery was not a motive. The office of Brooklyn prosecutor Charles Hynes and the New York Police Departmentâs hate crime task force were investigating. They urged the public to help identify the attackers.
The NYPD is offering a $22,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspects. Gay Lesbian Times
